We finally met up with Pam and Dave, our friends on 'Iron Butterfly', on 8th June and it has been a very busy time since. From Braunston we travelled to Napton and turned towards Stockton where we used to keep our old share boat, so it was familiar territory until we got to the other side off Blue Lias Wharf and then we were into the unknown.
Dave has planned out our route and looks to see on the map where we might moor each night and at how far we will travel each day. We travelled up through Leamington Spa and on to Warwick where we met up with Stewart's sister Pauline and Caroline her daughter-in-law. Unfortunately I had a migraine during their visit and had to go off to bed, so that was a disappointment for me.
The water was so clear you could see the fish swimming in the water lilies along the sides of the canal.
The centre was quite inspiring. New buildings, restaurants, shops and offices as well as smart flats bordered each side of the canal, and cyclists, walkers and joggers enjoyed the towpaths as well as the fishermen.
